As far as planning to go to Liverpool it was very similar to what we did when going to Windermere. We bought our train tickets a few day before and showed up in Liverpool with absolutely no plans as to what we wanted to do. On our way to Liverpool we meet a women on the train who was from near there and she gave us a few suggestions of places to check out.

Liverpool is known for being the place where the Beatles started. The group that I was traveling with wasn't overly interested in doing any of the Beatles museums. However, other people that I have talked to that have done the museum said it was really cool.

When we got to Liverpool it was raining so we made our way to the closest museum from the train station. We ended up at the World Museum. It was a huge museum, Each of the 5 floors had something different. The First floor had an aquarium, there were dinosaurs on another and mummies on the top floor. (I think that the mummies were the most interesting thing in the museum).

The first picture is a fish at the aquarium that I thought was cool looking called an "axolotls".

When the rain had stopped for a little while we went and walked along the river. My favorite thing along the river was Albert Dock. It's hard to explain what the dock looks like but it is a dock that is surrounded by shops and restaurants. We got lunch at a restaurant there before continuing on with day.

After lunch we went the the Museum of Liverpool. The building itself was cool looking. Each floor was dedicated to a different time in the history of Liverpool. On the top floor there was an exhibit about the lives of John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono. I knew almost nothing about either of them so it was really interesting to read about their lives. The exhibit followed each of their lives from childhood to today. This exhibit was one of my favorite parts of the day.

Outdoor mall

By the time we finish in the Museum of Liverpool we were all starting to get tired. So, we made our way back to the train station. On the way we walked through Liverpool One which an huge outdoor shopping mall. I personally am not super into shopping but it was kind of fun to see stores that we don't have in the US. I was traveling with another person from the US, someone from Australia, and New Zealand. It was really interesting talking with them about the difference in the stores and shopping in each of our home countries.

The train ride back to Lancaster was only supposed to be an hour and a half. However, the train that we transferred to for the last half hour of our trip was delayed and we ended up spending a half hour at a random train station waiting for the delayed train. By that time we were all so tired it was hard to stay awake. I had fallen asleep on the first train and was so tired by the time we actually got back Lancaster that I went straight to bed.
