Day trip to the Lake District (Windermere)

My first trip after arriving in England was to Windermere. Windermere is a small town located in the Lake District, England's largest National Park. The Lake District is known for being super beautiful. I booked a train ticket with a few new friends. We did not make any other plans other than just exploring, which we did. When we got to Windermere a lady at the train station told us that it was only a 20 min walk down to the lake. So, we decided that the lake was a good place to start our exploring. The walk down to the lake was very nice. There were a lot of cool looking building, restaurants, and shops. The lake it's self was beautiful. Along the shore there were a ton of seagulls, a few swans and ducks that people were feeding. They were so used to people you could almost get them to eat out of your hands. There were also a lot of people out walking their dogs. The beach that we were at was called Bowness Pier. There were a lot of things to do at the pier. There were boat tours of the lake, you could rent your own boat, rent kayaks or paddle boats and there were a couple restaurants.

We talked with someone in the visitor center that said we should check out a view point that was a short walk away. It was an interesting walk. The first half was on residential streets and then we came to a spot that had a sign pointing at a dirt path between two houses saying that it was the trail. As we walked up the path it started to look like we were in the middle of the woods. It was so quiet and peaceful. Once we got to the lookout it was so pretty. The lake looked so blue and the grass and trees were some of the greenest I have ever seen. Based on the map that we got from the visitor center, there was another view point not to far way. As we were headed there we got very lost. We ended up on some other windy residential streets that didn't even show up on google maps. Eventually we turned around and decided to head back to town and get some lunch. On our way back to town we found the trail that we were supposed to be on with a sign that sad we were 50 meters from the view point. This was just as beautiful as the first. You could see more the lake and the hills in the distance.

From there we made our way to find a late lunch. We found a little cafe right on the water that was serving "fish and chips" and decided on that because none of us are from England we should all have one of their most famous meals. After lunch we made our way back up to the train station and did a little bit of shopping along the way. By the time we got back to Lancaster, we were all tired and had to get some school work done before classes the next morning.

Our hike took us along some fields of sheep. They are spray painted as a way to identify who owns them and/or their family lines.
